American Health Care… is it really that bad?

My daughter needed a surgery for her eyes. We had a nightmare of a time getting everything figured out with insurance. We had to reschedule two times before we could complete the surgery.

Yesterday, Jenna went in for the surgery and today she received a get well card. Not just a generic card with a couple of signatures, but personal notes from the pre-op nurse, the doctor, the recovery nurse and three people from the recovery team.

Today, I also received a call to see how she was doing.

She is two... she won't remember this, but her parents will remember and we certainly appreciate this.

This really stands out for me because I would always expect to get a thank you note from a salesman (which I almost never do). I would never expect a doctor to send a get well card... never seen it in the past and I bet I won't see it very often in the future.

Corey, I do hope you daughter is doing well? I neglected to check and see how she was doing. My wife and I spent the Christmas holiday in the children's hospital here as they thought my daughter might have pneumonia. I must say that was a very stressful time, but it showed me 2 things. First, my family is most certainly the most important thing in my life, and I was quite thankful I was able to devote my undivided attention to my family during that time. Second, I learned there are a lot of caring people still in healthcare. They don't always have good answers, and they most certainly do not always agree, but they are there trying there hardest.
