You want me to wait where?

I had to buy new tires the other day. I was asked if I wanted to wait or if I was going to come back later.

One look at the "fancy" waiting area told me what my decision was going to be.

Tire Store

If you are going to ask people to wait, it might not be a bad idea to give them an area that is at least kind of nice. A TV with a screen larger than 13 inches and a couple of comfortable chairs shouldn't be too much to ask for.

You are exactly right. In waiting period area should at least have a large TV with ESPN and wireless access. And maybe some decent coffee. By the way, is the guy on the right sleeping???

At least the owner of the tire shop, Ken, is a great guy- always honest. One time, when my car was getting new tires he let me borrow the company truck to drive home. I was impressed. But, you're right- can't they re-invest a little in the "bizness" and throw up at least a 20" screen...maybe a microwave and one of those vending machines with the rubber sandwiches and bad hot chocolate. Who knows, it just might turn into a little profit center...you never know.

I disagree. Shops are cars not people. The bill already looks like a novella, I'd prefer not to add plasma tv, overstuffed armchair, and cable/satellite fees. Arrange a ride home, go for a walk, read a book, or (heaven forbid) find something to think about. Why does our society feel that it is everyone's responsibility to constantly entertain them? Oh yea, it's because the entertainment industry tells them that's how it should be. Please note that it is in their best interests to get people to crave entertainment. My friends wonder how I get through the day without tv, I try to watch tv and wonder how they can stand sitting in front of it for so long. And how I used to sit in front of it for so long. After a few years away from it, it no longer entertains me. Uh oh, looks like we're out of time. Most of you need to get back to your brain wa...I mean favorite shows.

Although I tend to agree with Justin2.0 about the entertainment but this issue is not about entertainment. In fact, it is just the opposite ... it is about being respectful of people's time.
